BEFORE WAX
Hair Length
To give you the smoothest results possible, your hair should be at least ¼ of an inch long. That’s usually at least two weeks since shaving or 4-6 weeks since waxing. If your hair is too short the wax may not adhere.
Comfy Clothes are a Must
Loose clothing lets your skin breathe. Ditch your party clothes for your sweats!
Exfoliate
For the best results, exfoliate your skin 1 day before your appointment to get rid of dead skin and prepare your hair follicles for removal.
Reduce Pain
Take a Tylenol 30-45 minutes prior to service to help minimize any discomfort.
No Skin-sensitive Medications
Do not wax if you are on any skin sensitive medications that may cause the skin to lift (ie. Accutane or Retin-A).
Schedule Strategically
Schedule your wax 3-4 days before a big event to give your skin time to chill. If you’re a waxing newbie and want to go bare for a special event (like your wedding) we recommend waxing 2-3 times before your big day.
Tanning / Sunburn
We recommend you lay off tanning the area you want waxed for 24-48 before your appointment as we cannot perform services on sunburnt or irritated skin.
Keep Us Informed
Let us know if it’s your first time waxing, if you’re pregnant, if it’s that time of the month, or if you’ve had previous adverse reactions to waxing. This will allow us to cater your service to your needs.
AFTER WAX AFTERCARE
It’s Normal
You may experience some redness which usually subsides within 24-48 hours.
If it’s your first time waxing and/or have coarse hair, you may experience more irritation than usual due to the hair follicles being deeply rooted.
Keep Your Pores Clean
It is important to keep your freshly waxed pores CLEAN for at least 24 hours after your service. Any sweat and/or bacteria that enters your pores can cause an adverse reaction. The following are some common activities to avoid immediately after waxing:
- No touching
- No exercise/sweating
- No tanning
- No swimming, steam rooms or saunas
- No sexual contact
Avoid Shaving
You’ll have the urge to pick up the razor, but don’t do it. Regular, consistent waxing will lead to regrowth that is softer and often more sparse.
Ingrowns
To help prevent those pesky, painful ingrown hairs, it’s important to start exfoliating 5 to 7 days after your wax. Use a gentle exfoliating washcloth daily to remove any skin build-up which may be blocking the pores and preventing new hair regrowth.
Book Your Next Visit
For best results, book your next appointment in 5-6 weeks. Hair grows in different cycles, so it’s best to allow enough time for the hair to fully grow out; which will ultimately lead to longer, smoother results.
