Semi-permanent makeup is often confused with cosmetic tattoos (also called permanent makeup). They are NOT the same. Cosmetic tattooing is an older technique that may use ink for body tattoos. They are permanent and will not disappear. They tend to look unnatural and often discolour over time to a bluish gray.
Semi-permanent makeup, on the other hand, is the newest innovation for beauty and is an upgrade from cosmetic tattoos. The biggest difference is that semi-permanent make-up is NOT permanent; the shade only gets lighter and lighter through the exfoliation of the epidermis.
This procedure creates a beautiful, sheer layer of colour for fuller, brighter and more pronounced looking lips. Lip tattooing helps correct and balance the symmetry of lips that are uneven, too thin, too thick, or scarred. It can also enhance the natural colour and shape of “perfect” lips. A natural appearing permanent cosmetic lip liner can be applied to give more definition, correct uneven lips, which will result in a fuller appearance.

VERY IMPORTANT: If you have a history of cold sores you’ll need to start taking an anti-viral prescription (Valacyclovir, Denavir (penciclovir), Valtrex or acyclovir (Zovirax)), at least a week BEFORE your proposed procedure. Cold sore outbreaks are often triggered by stress or trauma to the lips and skin. Therefore if you are a carrier, lip blush will likely cause an outbreak if you do not take an anti-viral medication prior. This is because cold sores will effect the healing/results and can even lead to scarring. So please do not skip this step, you will be happy you didn’t and have better results.
*Remember that cold sores could happen to anyone at any time after the procedure and it is temporary. It is not a sign of incorrect treatment or lack of safety, it is the reaction of the skin to the procedure.
